Electrics "Made in USA"

#1 Post by hamiltonelectric » Tue Oct 17, 2017 7:48 am

I recently stumbled upon a Converta IV with "MADE IN USA" printed below the 6, and the usual "PAT. PENDING" below that. Really unusual!

I've only seen two Pacers and one Vantage with that marking. It definitely wasn't used on all export watches, most likely one or two specific countries required it. In any event, they are few and far between based on my experience.

Very Cool!

In the heat of the battle you acquired this stuff.... now you can slow down and enjoy it.

You are slowing down? :D

That is very interesting. It would be interesting which countries required the country of origin to be on the product. It would be funny if it was Switzerland! It reminded me of this thread about the threat the Swiss posed to U.S. watch manufacturers:

Many of the Elgin thin thin line of automatics say
Made in America
On them. I just assumed they were proud of the fact.
Could it be so they could export them without have to do any dial variations?
