New standard for eBay shipping?

#1 Post by tse » Sat Feb 10, 2018 7:25 pm

From outside in, left to right in the photo: manila envelope intended to ship flat things; partial Priority Mail box reconfigured to approximate a cube; half of the upper part of an egg carton; half an egg carton, complete; plastic grocery bag; bubble wrap; blue tissue; tape throughout.

I would have posted this under Dear eBay Sellers but this unusual packing did its job. Nelson received unharmed and in better condition than I expected. No actual complaint here just amusement.

At the other extreme, several years ago I received a watch from Croatia packed in a 1930's Leica outer camera box. The packaging was worth more than the contents!

Whatever does the job. Bonus if you can get rid of some trash in the process.

I received an antique soda bottle in a manilla envelope with no packing whatsoever. Even more surprising, it survived shipping unharmed!

In the Olympic spirit.........this packaging had all of the compulsory elements covered, and it apparently 'stuck the landing' for top marks.............. :D

I have gotten all kinds of messy and weird types of packaging shipped to me. I usually don’t care as long as it made it safely. I hate when people use shredded paper and other things like that that requires me to clean up after opening it.

I received a watch crystal once that was carefully wrapped and taped into a milk jug cap, which I thought was a great idea.

Haha well this was funny and quite clever package. Improvised but still did the job.

Someone once sent me some paper posters in a plastic PVC plumbing pipe which was cut to dimensions. Oh, I also received a watch from someone (national) in a medicine box.

This is how I recieved my ‘29 Mate. At first I thought I’d gotten someone else’s mail.
Sure enough, the bubble wrap had a watch in it.
