For Sunday, an Elgin 30-jewel automaic:

Image

(Does someone know the model name? I date the watch to 1959 by the inscription on the back.)

(Noticing the pattern of the patina on the dial, elongated triangles, I wonder whether these hands might have had radium paint on the back, like some Hamilton hands? Then the patina would be radiation burns from times the watch stood idle for long perionds.)

grumpyguy: Nice Elgin with the two tone dial and that case.

Today, my mid 60's Hamilton Electric Pegasus.
The hands look more like the 1966 catalog, but not sure, especially the second hand. Still like the watch and it is in fine running condition.

Thanks, Grumpy!

I don't know much about Elgin after WW II, but I like these 30-J watches as examples of good engineering.
