First Timex Product Line

#1 Post by JerseyMo » Mon Dec 05, 2016 4:38 pm

Most consider the very first use of Timex on a watch dial to be the 1945 Nurse Fob watch.

But, there is some debate as to when the full product line was released. While I was a member of the now defunct Timex Forum there was a post which included a newspaper ad from 1949.
First pic. Since this came late in the forums history, many of the founding members did not get a chance to weight in on the discussion. Now have a look at what I just received thanks to EBay and a gentleman named Mayberry B. Hainsey of Queen, Penna. Yes, it is the very first product line brochure sent out to retails direct from US Time Waterbury Conn.

This is a grail document for sure! On the flip side now I have to go and find all of these watches :(

Nothing cooler than unearthing new information.
Well except sharing and not hoarding it.
I have some timexs I have acquired on the hunt for other items.
I was surprised at how well some of the early ones are made.
I don't think anyone has quite the timex collection you do but definitely worth having some in almost any collection.

I would recommend a 1964 Marlin or the 1969 21 Jewels Cross Hair as two watches anyone should have.

Congrats on a fabulous find! (So much ephemera about watch companies has been lost that it's all the more amazing and gratifying to luck into something as important as this brochure.)
