Timex finds in the thrift store.
Timex finds in the thrift store.
Bought my first Timex watches today. Two for ten bucks. The one on the right runs pretty good. The electric one doesn't run. I'm having trouble opening the back of both of them. I try prying them at the little lip parts to no avail. Im still looking for previous posts that cover this. Any suggestions? Thank you. I like how they look.

the one on the left is a 1963 - 1965 Electric with M 67 movement. The dial code will be above the 12 mark, the last two numbers are the year made.semroc wrote: ↑Tue Nov 28, 2017 10:19 pmBought my first Timex watches today. Two for ten bucks. These are front loaded So you have to lift the crystal and there is a screw in the crown that has to be taken out as well. Do not attempt to take the back off because it is epoxied together.
the one on the right is a early 1970's Marlin with Day Date feature. They are most often called a telephone dial. That one comes out the back.
Here are some from my "hoard" ....I mean collection

Thank you for the great information JerseyMo. Ill try and get these cleaned up and working. I appreciate the pics. Probably have to get a new crystal for the telephone one. Its pretty bad. We'll see if a buffing helps. Do you own a telephone marlin?
Re: Timex finds in the thrift store.
Its coming right along. I followed JerseyMoes acrylic crystal cleaning method, and it turned out pretty good. Now I gotta figure out how to set the day and date.
Re: Timex finds in the thrift store.
looking great. try turning the crown counter clockwise to set the day and clockwise to set date. I think...
think that crown is kinds worn, I should have a replacement. shoot me a PM
