black enamel on engraved case

#1 Post by tse » Sat Aug 04, 2018 7:11 am

What is the correct term for the black enamel that fills in the engraving? And how do you restore it?

I have Gladstone, where only the middle piece of the case is engraved, and the enamel is totally gone. Also a Cushion Engraved where the enamel is partly gone.

I remember a post about restoring it a few months ago but can't find that post now.

Thanks for any advice.

Here's a link to one of the previous threads:

There is a difference between "true" enamel and "painted on" enamel. You get where you need to be with an enamel paint pen and some paint thinner / acetone.
