Fairfield Aerial Camera, aka Bomb-Timer

#1 Post by Nookster » Sat Feb 24, 2018 10:57 am

This one excited me as no one really knew how many were made. But as you can see here from 1935-1938,
how many bomb-timers were made, called the Fairchild aerial Camera Corp. interesting to see the original
ones were made with a 980A, then to a 980. Was made to wind at the 3 or the 12. I owned both versions
of these watches.

Looks like 475 made in 1935, 1,057 made in 1936, 675 made in 1937 and 1,164 made in 1938 for a total
of 3,371.

I think we need to start a campaign to stop calling these "bomb timers" and switch to the now-documented real name of "Camera Watches."

Seriously great find. It's intriguing that these were made so long before WWII.

Well, I will start selling mine as that, and that way I will get more money, as I can say there was never a Bomb Timer watch,
but there was a "Fairfield Camera Watch."
