Boulton with Misaligned Case Marks

#1 Post by Frobob » Sat May 19, 2018 11:27 am

I recently finished up a Boulton in very good shape, but I noticed that its hallmarks are along one of the caseback's corners instead of on a side. None of the other Boultons I've seen are like this. What say you folks about it?

P.S. the obligatory wrist shot.

Have encountered a few vintage watches so far that had various elements just slightly misaligned. Had a Longines with the logo on the dial just a tad misaligned (shame to the maker). Surprised that it passed QC.

Were these hallmarks stamped/pressed with a machine or manually ?

Based on how crisp they are all, I would assume all stamped after cases were made.
