Here are 2 pics of a Consul (sub-6) dial and 607 movement inside a nickel "spacer". (The other 2 Nickel-stamped Consuls on each side have different movements inside them.) The solid 14K section of the center included the lugs and gold around the center spacer was removed before I purchased this movement.

No one knows why, but certain alloys in certain years tarnish, gold filled or solid gold. I have a Lawrence that is yellow when polished, but over time turns pink.

I have several white solid gold watches that look two tone until polished. Will pointed it out to me about 20 years ago or so. I was on the phone with him
and he said grab any two tone solid gold watch and polish the center, he was right it turned white immediately.
