Those markings have been pictured in my last edition of The Watch of the Future for several years. ;)

But I agree, I hope no one tries to fake these. It's bad enough that there are some in the market that are marked "Hamilton Electric". That has confused at least a few people I've heard from over the years.

Indeed they were, Rene, but I bet they won't show up in a Google search. :P ;)

There was a seller with an Electric with repro strap advertised as original — like many, he would not be dissuaded by any facts, logic or references.

No one fakes Hamilton's, not enough money in them to do it. As far as the bands, they have been out there for years, and everyone would have done it by now! That's my two cents!!

I'm sorry Rene but this is the first time I disagree with you. I really do hope someone creates repop versions. I'd place my order today.

Roger,

There are repo's out there, just not as good quality as originals.

I'd love to see someone make a very close replica -- as long as they don't use the original stampings on the back. I have nothing against the concept of a repop (obviously, since I made hundreds of them!) as long as they don't deceive people.

I was never able to find a strap manufacturer willing or able to make a seriously accurate replica, with gold leaf. So I had to settle for "close enough". The repros still in the market also fall into that not really perfect, close enough category. Even Hamilton's recent "Elvis Edition" version was not the same as the original.

If someone ever does make one that accurately matches the original -- signed with their own name -- I would also gladly buy one. ;)

Update to my original post from over a year ago (page 1, this thread):

And then there were 2. (Boxes, that is. :) )

Now both my black and white dial Electric Venturas have a proper home. :D
.

P.S. For those who don't want to review all the pages in this thread: These long boxes with the "Electric" sash were the original Ventura (and Van Horn) boxes that were only used for a very few months before being switched out to the more common clamshell box. Very few of these are left around. ;)
