On the first Sunday in May, I wore a Gruen "Cartouche Orné 1" to church:

I've been waiting a couple of years to wear the watch I wore to church today:

I didn't post this before because I didn't want to give away any secrets. But Fred's book is now loose in the wild, and you can all find out the story of this model. Go look for it! (Hint: it's solid 14K.)

On a rainy Sunday afternoon in Pennsylvania, I’m wearing this 1973 Electronic Vega. It runs an electronic grade 702 movement and has a case back number of 702’004-4. It has a 14k gold electroplate bezel with a stainless steel back. This model is the gold version of the stainless steel 1973 Electronic Pegasus. It is a relatively large watch, having a 39mm case width with a lug width of 19mm or 3/4”.

Mr. Toad, most awesome lugs I’ve ever seen.

Tonight this early 50s Spencer, original bracelet.

Grumpy, I love those Elgins with matching bracelets.

The lugs on the Hamilton-Illinois are just about the strangest things I've seen coming out of Hamilton's design group in that period before they went wild on the electics. The picture doesn't so them justice: little spirals with forked tails.

For Monday the 1954 K-400 "cld" made for only one year.

On of my favorites, 1954 was the first year of automatics for Hamilton. For one year Hamilton contracted with Eterna for their cutting edge five ball bearing automatic movement.

They appeared only three watches, all of them cld's; the K-200, K-300 and this K-400.

Wish I new more of the story why they stopped with the Eternamatic's?
