Something from the Fabulous Fifties: today I’m wearing this 1953 Hamilton Windsor in tribute to my Namespetra relatives from Windsor, Canada.

This model was offered from 1953 to 1955. The first two years of its production featured a 982 movement but in its last year it was given a 770 grade movement. Mine runs the 22 jewels 770 grade movement. It has a 10kygf Star case with 19mm lugs.

First, the Gruen and the Hamilton's posted so far are elegant to say the very least.

Stryfox, that is one I've never seen before. Any info on it? The dial alone is attractive.

For today, this early 50s Elgin Seaman.

This morning I wore an Elgin Model 1458 to a meeting:

The dial is almost like an Illinois so-called Bullet Dial. It has the same "bullet" markers and the same font for the numerals. However, the Illinois has sub seconds while the Elgin has sweep seconds -- and there are wings around the Elgin name.

My watch for Tuesday is a Hamilton Automatic II "B" (that's Hamilton's punctuation on the inside caseback):

The story of this variant that adds a wind indicator to the Automatic II is told in the Hamilton-Illinois chapter of Fred Friedberg's new book.
