WRUW 3/18 through 3/23/2018?

#1 Post by mrtoad » Sun Mar 18, 2018 11:47 am

For Sunday, I wore a yellow Illinois Baronet:

This one has the 21-jewel motor-barrel movement.

Since we now know Fred's long-awaited book has made a material appearance, I thought I should celebrate by wearing Illinois.

Today I wore an Illinois too -- a "Berkeley 153":

Thought I should have a watch with a little green enamel for St. Patrick's Day weekend!

Bettie, that’s a sharp looking watch IMHO! Today I wore the Hamilton DeWitt.

I’m starting the week off with this 1971 Hamilton “Railroad Special” Electronic 6002. It has a stainless steel Star case with a model number 980069 imprinted on the case back. Hamilton put forth three different models in three years from 1971 to 1973 all cataloged as the Electronic 6002. The first model year debuted this R.R. Special model with a white dial and a stainless steel case. The second generation of this watch featured a completely different gold colored dial with black markers in a 14k yellow gold electroplated case with a stainless back. The final 1973 model exhibited a gold colored dial imprinted with black Roman numerals in a 10k yellow rolled gold plated Star case (case number 980569).
Hamilton produced few railroad-style wristwatches so I’m happy to own this example. I find it odd that for three consecutive years Hamilton used the same identification name for three very different watches. I wonder why?

I tried to get one for tomorrow but, the owner was not looking to sell. The Hamilton logo is there, I just took a bad pic.
