I had a box arrive today. Spoiler alert...inside the box is a Ball Engineer II Genesis. I got in on this pre-order before Christmas and it just arrived today.

Beautiful watch Dave, two thumbs up! Wear it it joy & health.
I really like Ball, it has some wonderful American watch and railroad history. Have you seen their latest innovation, a portrait caseback. It takes personalization to a whole new level.

I'm envious of the truly luminous dial. Would somebody paint my dials with radium if I promise not to lick them?

Thanks guys. I've heard about the portrait option but I can't look at the page because the service is not available in my country. I can't even look at it. :D

I'm planning to wear this to my first concert tomorrow. I will be able to see what time it is when my wife pulls me out of the club because it's a work night.

I already have it on a leather strap. It's much more comfortable this way. It's actually a Hamilton strap from my Jazzmaster.

The headliner is a band called Vesperia from Toronto. They won the 2015 Wacken Germany metal competition. They are a heavy viking death metal band that's not really my thing but I know a couple of the members from the opening band. I probably won't stay long after my friends' band play because I have to be up at 6 AM for work.

Dave,

Now that it has been awhile, how do you like the watch?

I'm thinking of getting a Ball Fireman for every day use.

Any complaints?

The Ball is still my go-to watch on weekends which probably makes it my most worn watch at this point. The value of tritium lume can't be understated when going out at night. I've had zero issues with it, quality wise. Winding, setting and date changes feel good. Power reserve seems to build quickly and hold for a long time. My opinion overall is that it is extremely useful, well built, comfortable, reliable and a solid value if you are in the market for it's special features.

I should clarify one point from earlier in the thread (after reading it again). That wasn't my first concert. It was this Ball's first concert and it's been to literally dozens of shows since, everything from heavy metal, grunge, thrash punk, prog rock, jazz, singer/songwriter etc. I go to one or two live shows by local bands nearly every week and this Ball has become my constant companion. We have a great local music scene here and I'm taking full advantage while I'm still reasonably young (meaning still ambulatory).

I can only assume it's accurate because I only wear it a couple days per week then put it away for five days. Nothing in my life relies on split second timing anyway so "vintage watch timing" is perfectly suitable for me.

I should update the photo. I put it on a Martu vintage style strap that I like a whole lot better.

Dave,

Thank you for the reply and the information. I appreciate it.

I think I may order mine this week.

Thanks again!
