A Crystal Question

#1 Post by GreenBayStamps » Fri May 19, 2017 2:27 pm

I have a very nice watch that is in excellent shape. The crystal had blemishes and I attempted to replace it. Normally with most of the automatics use the standard Delux crystal. I probably oversimplify it but they work for many of the round 50's Automatics.

The 1974 Electronic 5001 took a 31.8 MM or a size 30 Crystal. The problem is the base of these crystals are not thick enough to hold the front loading movement steady. My thought would be to press a ET or WT GS Crystal with a ring into the area. My fear you need to have enough height to pull it out?

I'm sure with the knowledge here someone can provide some direction for this novice grasshopper! :)

Thanks for your support...

Pat
