Had a great time at the show in San Diego the past two days, had a great dinner with Stan (and his better half), Randy and his better half, (he married up) and my date Bryan. Saw the usual's, Fred F and all the others.

My question is to Adam. With you doing all these great speeches on bogus watches, I thought it was against the rules of NAWCC to sell bogus watches? There were a ton of fakes at this show. Rolex, Cartier, Omega, you name it, it was there. I thought we were all in this to preserve the watch and clock history, not abuse it.

Adam, you may need to give those folks a talk at that Chapter? Also, when is your next presentation in Calif?

Yes, I definitely married up! After all these years it was Lauretta's first regional. She had fun. She now has a Hammy "Top Hat" with 11 diamonds. Not my cup of tea, but she is happy with it. That was a fun evening with Mark, Bryan, Stan, Tiffany and Lauretta. We had the Dodgers - Nats game going in the background, but the conversation was 90% watches. How can you beat that? I got one watch - a major keeper. Illinois Speedway with zero case wear and all the black enamel intact. Thanks Fred!

I completely agree Mark ! ! !

There were WAY TOO MANY high end counterfeit watches at the show.

To the best of my knowledge, the NAWCC is not even suppose to allow counterfeit watches to enter a Mart event.

The Regional and National show management folks really need to start CRACKING DOWN on people who are selling FAKE watches at these shows.

I could care less if the seller is saying that they are counterfeits, they should NOT even be in the building!

PERIOD!

Adam is busting his butt traveling around the world teaching people how to spot the fakes and he is raising a TON of money for the NAWCC Museum while doing so.

Show directors need to start 86'ing these sellers, ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY needs to be taken seriously.

Looking forward to Adam's comments about this topic.

Hi Mark et all.

It is surely not allowed by NAWCC to offer fake watches, I can only suspect that few people there know or care.

My course in California, which many members begged for only sold 6 places, while the one on the East Coast is over sold with 16, and now turning people away, or offering West Coast or May 2017!

The course has grown to 580 pages and is up to date with latest Swiss Ultra Super Fakes.

My new course "Time is Money" is an evaluation and appraisal course, it covers BOTH pocket watches and wristwatches from 1600 to about 1960
In that I cover Swiss Fakes of American Railroad pocket watches and of course marraige and Franken pieces.

Luxury or Lie? Course in CA is 12-14th November

Regards

Thats great.
I am sure you will thoroughly enjoy the course.
Please note this course is modern luxury watches (although In do show a Hamilton rework dial), so no Hamilton, Elgin or vintage in this course.
That info is covered in "Time is Money"

Once again, thanks your interest and support and I look forward to meeting you face-to-face

I just got off the phone with the President of the NAWCC a moment ago.

I voiced my concerns about counterfeit watches being sold at NAWCC events.

Counterfeit, fake, replica: call it whatever you want but this is HIGHLY ILLEGAL.

He said that the FBI might have to be contacted if these folks continue selling counterfeit watches.

The FBI Fraud Division handles this type of activity.

He said that in the past FBI Agents have been invited to NAWCC Regional events for inspections and that this practice might have to be revisited.

I've been to 4 regionals so far this year and the national convention.

At every single show somebody or several dealers were selling counterfeit watches!

It does NOT matter if the seller is selling them as fakes.............it is AGAINST the LAW as it is trademark infringement.

So, if you want to keep on selling this crap at the shows you better have some bail money ready and a good lawyer, federal charges will soon follow.

The hammer is coming down!

The last NAWCC National that I attended was in York, PA.

The NAWCC let scrappers in to buy all forms of gold. People were selling their gold watches and jewelry to them at scrap value.

There was a huge pile of scrap on the table.

Some people were even buying 14K & 18K gold pocket watch cases back off of the scrapper that other NAWCC member s had sold them.

Does the NAWCC still allow scrappers at the show too?

Stan, we both know the FBI won't show up. It needs to be self policed. Those who violate need to get a written warning, then if violated again, need to be banned for one year, if caught again, lifetime ban from NAWCC shows.

The people running the shows need to take the stance, not the FBI.
