Hamilton Sea-Crest or disguised as a Thinline 5001

#1 Post by inatime » Tue Sep 13, 2016 5:48 pm

This forum database, including pictures, and Bruce's new book have confused me to the point I think I might have a Franken.

The dial and hands (excluding the seconds hand which is not correct) are Sea-Crest. As I am unable to find any pics of the Sea-Crest or Thinline 5001 backs, I can't confirm if this watch is all Sea-Crest as the case looks similar to me to a Thinline 5001. Have the dial and movement been put in a Thinline 5001 case? The 673 movement inside is correct for a Sea-Crest. Can anyone put me out of my misery?

I think yours is a Sea Crest case. I think any differences you notice between the photo thread image and yours is a matter of angles, lighting and shadows.

Thanks Dave.

I looked at the pics I took and boy does my macro lens show warts and all! The dial is actually quite nice.
