Hamilton Mystery—Revisited

#1 Post by mrtoad » Mon Aug 27, 2018 5:57 pm

Back in 2014 I posted a mystery Hamilton: a rectangular watch in a 14K Jonell case similar to that used on the "Nevin II"

(The thread is at viewtopic.php?f=41&t=5047.)

At the time I originally posted the watch, I speculated that it might be related to the "Golden Tempo A", but we did not have that watch in hand for reference, just a "Nevette". We now have a "Nevin II" to go with the "Nevette" and a "Golden Tempo A" that we can pair with this watch.

So here is the mystery watch with the "Golden Tempo A"

And here are all four watches:

The similarities of the pairings are obvious, particularly when it comes to the sizes and shapes of the cases.

The mystery watch is somewhat worn, but there is some evidence that the crosshatching went both ways, as on the "Golden Tempo A". And depending on the illumination, it may be possible to see what might have once been multicolor plating.

When I first posted this watch, René suggested that it might have been a special run, perhaps a presentation model. We're still inclined to think that, but I thought I'd post these pictures and see whether anyone has new thoughts.

Cool stuff. Are the golden tempo models the only ones with multi colored gold?
