Need help to positively identify and value watch

#1 Post by lhoffower » Mon Jun 04, 2018 8:48 pm

Hello. My husband died a year ago and I found an old Hamilton watch in his stuff. After looking through this and other sites, I think it's a 1975 Auto Date Escort (could also be a 1974 Auto Date Venture or 1973 Day N Date). I'd like to be able to say for sure which one of these it is and get a rough idea of value. The watch works but there might be an issue with setting either the day or date. The bracelet is original. The number on the back is 641004-3. Thank you in advance for your help!

I believe it's the Autodate Escort and the ebay prices I've seen range from $43-$258 with the average being $125 in good working order and cosmetic condition. As is, there may be more value in the bracelet because someone may need it for their watch that may not have one. We have some members here who collect 60s-70s automatics from Hamilton and some of them may chime in. I have one with a slightly different original bracelet.

I agree with Tom on value - probably in the $75-$100 range in its present condition

I have several examples of this watch, really like the size and style

This watch has had several names over the years - Auto Date Escort, Auto Date Ventura, Day n Date 5008, etc.
Based on your bracelet, your watch is from 1973 or 1974 (D/D 5008 or Ventura)

A new crystal ($10) would go a long way to improve condition

Hope that helps - condolences for your loss
