Look here for help to identify your Hamilton Watch

This was my Dad's watch and I am finally getting around to deciding what to do with it. It seems to be working fine and keeping time, although I have not worn it to test the "automatic" feature. I know he had the band replaced with a Black Hills Gold design. I took the watch to my local jeweler and he said the back was not removable, but he was able to remove the crystal and then examine the movement which had the engravings "Hamilton 629 17 Jewel". There were no identifiers inside the case. On the back side of the case, where the band attaches, there is a star symbol followed by "10K RGP" which I understand to mean "rolled gold plate". Any help would be much appreciated.

I did a bit more study of the catalogs and believe this is probably a Dateline TM-6900. I found it in the 1968/1969 catalog, so not sure of exact date. I assume that little black blotch under the 12 is not something I should see on the actual watch? Sorry...I see I should have done more homework before posting the question! Any added comments or insights will be appreciated. Kudos to Dave and the community for creating and maintaining this amazing forum page!
