Age and Value of my LeCoultre Please?

#1 Post by APV » Tue Nov 07, 2017 1:21 pm

Hello - I'm new here and was wondering if anyone would be able to give me some info on my late Grandpa's watch that I now own. It is a LeCoultre Mens Watch, 14K D&A stamped on back, 17 Jewels, stamped on inside of case: 635-691 and 55516. It is fully functioning, face is a 1" square.

I'd appreciate it if anyone could give the approximate age and approximate value of it.

I can't view the pictures. It asks you to register. But I can tell you that D&A stands for DiVincenzo & Arienti, a New York City case manufacturer. But that's about all I can tell you without pictures (and probably even with pictures, not having much experience with LeCoultre).

Like I said, I'm no LeCoultre Expert. But a quick search of sold eBay listings suggests to me that selling prices for 14k rectangular LeCoultres are in the $300-$500 range. Of course, dealers would put a higher value on it, but I think if you were to try to sell it yourself, you'd probably get $300 to $500.

It's an interesting case design. That may or may not make a difference.

Just going by the styling, I suspect the watch dates to the late 1950s or 1960s.

Since it's a family heirloom, I'd get it serviced (about $100 if there are no major problems), get a new glass crystal and a nice leather band and enjoy it.
