1950s Borel Cocktail

#1 Post by Movintage » Sat May 14, 2016 5:05 am

I thought I would share one of my wife's and mine favorite watches.

It's a 1950's Ernest Borel Cocktail watch also known as a kaleidoscope because of the two discs that comprise the dial that rotate acting as a seconds counter but more importantly, create a mesemerizing kaleidoscope effect. It uses 2 red pointers to display the hour and minute much like thoses of the Mystery Dial watches

The watch is all original except, triple signed ( dial, crown & movt.) for the band and replacement crystal. It has a 17j Swiss manual wind movement and keeps spot on time.

Here are a few pictures. I do have a short video that shows how wonderful the kaleidoscope effect is. I just haven't been able to figure out how to psot it. if anyone can advise, that would be great.

I have thought about buying the men's version, but I meant that it's one of my favorite watches that my wife owns.
