I need some advice. I was lucky enough top win at a small auction this 6/0 size solid 14 karat white gold Waltham. It hs a 17 jewel Ruby movement. I am looking to upgrade the dial to a different style that would be period correct. I know I can send it to Id to have the dial refinished, but I am looking for possible options that would of been correct for a watch dated from 1929 to 1933.
I would appreciate any advice or direction that you could give me. I have Googled Waltham advertisements from the 1930' s, nothing. I have Googled Waltham 6/0 1930's, nothing as well. So, I am a bit stuck. I would appreciate your help. I am also looking for a period correct crown as well.
It is amazing what a careful buffing can do to bring a solid gold watch case back to life.

Beautiful watch. I don't know much about Waltham watches, but are you sure the dial isn't original? I think it looks great as is. Just my opinion.

Thank you. The watch has amazing potential. The dial is probably original. What I was looking for were any other dial choices that Waltham would of offered in that time period. Perhaps, none. But I would like to explore the choices.

I think your dial has been refinished or is from a late 1930s or early 1940s military style model. Doesn't quite have the look of Waltham's luminous dials from the late 1920s and 1930s.
I've had a couple of this model, great looking watch. Mine have had the 18K gold applied numerals as shown in the 1932 jobber catalog below:

The ad is remarkable as it is a snap shot of the 1930’s. Two questions:
1) Is there a picture of the dial described in the ad?
2) was there ever a two tone dial made?
Thank you for sharing. It is a privilege to take a walk down memory lane and see it what it looked like. The movement is dated 1929, the inscription is date 1933.
Here is another story behind the story. Who could afford to purchase a solid gold watch as s gift 4 years into the worst financial crisis that started October 1929, the great crash. A truly dark period for America.

I love that dial. Do you suppose the patina gave its two tone appearance, I like that font. It the dial is suppose to be two tone I’ll ask ID if they have the template
Thank you for pointing it out.
