Hi. I am just putting together my list of essential tools, and was wondering about a staking set. There do seem to be a few used ones on eBay. I was looking at this Boley set, which seems like a reasonable deal.

Anyone know about these? Can I obtain new and replacement stakes, etc. that will fit this and other vintage sets? I just wondered if they all take the same size of fittings.
Many thanks
Ray

Sorry I didn't see your post, but you did good anyway. The only other thing you may want is a staff removal tool.
Good luck.
BTW there are books on how to use a staking set. Well worth the money to shorten the learning curve.

Phew. Good to know. Thanks. The seller has also thrown in, free of charge, a complete "British Horological Inst clock and watch repairing technical grade" course notes set. Very nice of him. But I am also signed up with Bob Tascione's online repair course, so hopefully the staking tutorials will be helpful. Thanks Mark. This one is available as a pdf also http://cholla.mmto.org/watches/repair/m ... _tools.pdf
I am hoping that most of the text will also be applicable to the vintage Boley set.
