Hamilton 400, Illinois 528 question

#1 Post by HandyDan » Sat Oct 15, 2016 1:47 pm

I'm trying to overhaul a Hamilton 400 pocket watch for my blog. I've never seen a grade 400 before and getting the dial off has me stumped.

I don't see any screws on the side of the movement to secure the dial feet. I also don't see any screws on the back of the movement to secure the dial feet.

I even pulled the barrel bridge off to see what was underneath, thinking I'd see a dial foot or two but I didn't see anything that would secure the dial.

The dial seems to wrap over the edge of the main plate so I don't see any obvious way to lift it off.

The Hamilton 400 is based on an Illinois 528.

Anyone have any experience and suggestions?

Thanks!

Never mind, figured it out. It's a snap on dial... go figure.
