Vintage 1945 Elgin Watch Thrift Store Find

#1 Post by iKokomo » Mon Dec 26, 2016 9:30 am

I found this amazing watch at a Thrift Store (It is a part time job) for $17.50 and I found this amazing gold colored, Elgin watch in amazing shape, for the age. Opening it up the serial number said its from 1945. I was wondering if anyone knew anything else about this neat watch! History and the like :) Thanks!

I don't have an exact answer but I can tell you I did have that model so it is factory correct I assume as mine was identical. I'll see if I can find some pictures.

Also. It is newer than that. I do not see a serial number on the movement. The one on the case is irrelevant for dating it.
Elgin stopped putting serial numbers on movements in the late 50's

That movement grade, 752, was introduced in 1958, so it's no older than that. Looks to be in good condition!

I outed the 4254 back in Jul '15.

Mine had a later grade 777. Hard to find with the plating in such good shape. Joel
