WWI Elgin Trench Watch, Crystal Guard, Lumed.............

#1 Post by Literustyfan » Mon Feb 13, 2012 9:57 am

Hey guys!

I just finished up with this one a few minutes ago.

WWI Elgin Trench Watch, 7 jewels, size 0s, lumed BOLD Arabic military dial, lumed hands, Wadsworth nickel case with a hinged case back, new glass, new mainspring, Mealy Manufacturing "DUO" crystal guard, factory crown, VERY authentic black leather band.

I took the movement apart cleaned it and installed a brand new mainspring, amplitude shot up to 275.

Timing is about +23 seconds averaged in several positions.

Just re-lumed the dial and hands this morning, turned out pretty good.

Polished the Wadsworth nickel case, has a mirror like finish once again.

The crystal guard is a snap on from Mealy Manufacturing, it's their "DUO" model that was top of their line.

It's a size 0s guard not a forced on smaller size 3/0s, the bigger size 0s are MUCH harder to come by!

These are TRUE size 0s Elgin military hands, notice the minute hands goes all the way out to the minute markers.

Case measures 36mm lug to lug and 32.5mm without the crown.

To finish it all off I used a VERY NICE black leather band that I got from a guy in England.

Nice. I suspect that the appearance is even better than when the watch was brand new!

Love the extra attention they paid to the detail on the movement! Many never saw it but, it is still beautiful, nonetheless!

I'm all out of superlatives to describe the resto jobs you do, Stan. Another one that looks like it just arrived at the jeweler, fresh from the factory! Love the lume shots, BTW!
