The Lost Silent Film of the Elgin National Watch Company

#1 Post by Literustyfan » Sun Nov 10, 2013 7:45 am

Hey guys!

I just came across something VERY COOL ! ! !

This is a formerly lost silent film about the Elgin National Watch Company circa 1931.

It's about 23 minutes long and it goes through the entire process of making an Elgin watch movement!

It's one thing to see old black and white still pictures of this but it is pretty crazy to be able to watch a film about it ! ! !

I've never seen anything like this before!

ENJOY ! ! !

Great.

I liked the shot with the AVIGO in it, product placement!

That is super cool. I'm going to sticky this thread so it doesn't get lost a few pages down the forum.

Thanks Dave!

Don't want this one getting lost in time again.

Really cool...had to mute that music though.

Finally got around to watching this. The machinery is mind-blowing. Wondering how different a modern watch factory is, I looked a couple videos. Lots of similar machines, but nobody operating them.
Real men wear small watches.
