Need replacement dial for Legionnaire with enamel numerals on case

#1 Post by Gabe » Tue Sep 25, 2018 7:42 am

Any suggestions on where to find a replacement dial for an Elgin Legionnaire with enamel numerals on the dial?

I think International Dial Co. can refinish that print and make it "like new".

Any suggestions on how to get an original dial in not too shabby condition?

I know there was a member here named 'diveboy' who said he had some of the harder dials to find out there, all new old stock.

Gabe, I'd get ID to refinish it, if I were you. They're very reasonable in price, and I understand that they have masters for almost all the Elgin dials. (Although diveboy has a lot of NOS Elgin dials, I don't remember seeing that one among them. Of course, you could ask him . . .)

Thank you.

I have an email out to them. Hopefully, they'll respond soon.

I.D. has this dye and they can do it for approximately $50, I think.

So if International Dial has this dye, is it an Elgin 421 or 449?

This is a picture of a 421:

I believe the only difference in the model number is that one has the bracelet, one doesn't.

Just send I.D. a reference photo of a correct dial, and they'll know what you need. :)

I thought that might be the difference too, until I saw that there are different crystals for each model.

I'll certainly find out soon enough.

Once I get the dial back, I'll try to have the crystal changed, as well.

Thank you very much for your help.
