It's not an actual Elgin model. (With one of those, there should be Elgin's formula inside the case back indicating that the watch had been cased and timed at the Elgin factory.) Instead, it's an Elgin movement in a generic rectangular cut-corner case (mid to late 1920s) that might also have housed a Waltham or an Illinois movement, depending on what movement the customer wished to choose.
