The Elgin Firestone from the American Efficiency Series

#1 Post by brtime » Sat Aug 04, 2018 9:21 am

Is anyone aware of any other watch from the American Efficiency series that was given a specific name? I have only heard of the Firestone and have a sample of the ad (attached). Also, does anyone have a picture of the actual watch that they would let me use in the upcoming book on Elgin wristwatches viewtopic.php?f=30&t=12209? You will be given a credit line in the book plus earn my undying gratitude. If you have such an image, please attach it in a PM to me along with your name for the credit line. Thank you.

The only other model in the series that I've seen is the Charles H. Markham. It looks similar to the 677 Home Run model. Here's a clip of a 1929 ad showing it and the Harvey Firestone.

I don't own either one but there are posts in the WRUW forum and pictures in the archives of Bryan Girouard's site. Joel

I don't have anything to add, except I really like that Firestone. Another watch on the must have list

found an ad for the Markham, or Charles Henry Markham to be precise. Chairman of the Illinois Central Railroad.

Met a fellow forum member at the York show and she was wearing her Firestone — it was stunning!

Hopefully she will stumble in here. . . .

Yes, that lady pops in here.... hi there y'all.

I have a Firestone and a Markham, both from Bryan Girouard. He has beautiful pictures of both of them.

I recently moved from Texas to Delaware and am still in a moving mess so taking pictures right now just can't be done....can't find my photo set-up, camera, etc. Soon, hopefully, I'll be back at it and can post pictures of both of the watches.

It was so great being at York and meeting some of you. Movingman, my son Jim, and I had a wonderful time.
