Elgin Catalog & BW Raymond Surprise

#1 Post by diveboy » Sun Oct 22, 2017 1:23 am

We have been working on this with quite a few people here and its baby steps still but starting to get some details.

The big surprise for you all, theres now 5 different models of the B. W. Raymond Wrist Chronometer not the 3 previously known.

Whats the bigger surprise ? There may be a 6th model of the B. W. Raymond Wrist Chronometer that we are working on to determine if it was a prototype or a production example.

The Jobbers movement database is coming along as well, its a lot more complex than I previously thought it would be and has required a lot of manual processing to be able to link the parts across the movements. Eventually when its up, you'll be able to select a grade, click the part number and get a list of all movements with the same part to allow you to find the part on ebay a lot easier.

if there is anything you want to see on the details pages for the watches, please let me know.

All these things during the last few years of production at Elgin IL. It gives the picture of a company flailing, coming up with larger plans than they can execute.

I'm still curious about the 737 and the 787. I've found watches with the 737 - though all the same model. But I've never seen a 787. It's supposed to be a 19j watch, no sweep seconds, possibly no seconds bit at all, like the 785.
