I think most of us here appreciate& collect mechanical watches far more due to the fact that they're, well, mechanical.

Janesian, IMHO the one in stainless steel belongs to a particular fringe area of collecting that would appeal to more than a few. In good and functional condition it would be very nice to the right person.

I have a friend that does not collect watches at all. He use to wear a calculator watch all the time.
He asked me to help him find a working one and I did.
There is a market for working examples just not usually with watch collectors. More technology collectors.
He also asked me to hunt for a specific pac-man watch. I was able to find good ones but all above what he was willing to spend.

All time pieces have their place in horological history and there are those who find each era of interest.
But, perhaps the most difficult to keep running are the early LED and LCD models. Not to mention how difficult it is to push those tiny button!

I like digital watches (a little bit) but not the vintage ones. I prefer the modern ones, for some reason...

I agree and love the retro style these watches exude, but have you ever tried to use the calculator function? My word! It is like typing with two sledgehammers....maybe I just have fat fingers
