Citizen watch - can you help me date it?

#1 Post by johnfox » Sat May 28, 2016 2:01 pm

Hi all,

I have this citizen watch and need some assistance in dating it. In my research, I have learnt that the first three digits on the back provide the year and month but not the decade.

From the picture, you can see it was in August of a decade in its 7th year- but which decade?

Can anyone help?

Many thanks in anticipation of replies!

John

I'm going to guess that you know the dating method from seeing Sweephand's combination movement table & dating guide. If you don't already know the link to his blog, here it is:

http://sweep-hand.org/

I would hate to try to guess decade on this watch not knowing the movement (& not being an expert on all their many models). So ...

I'd suggest you get onto his blog & send him the question. I'd say he is capable of telling you!

Now, if that doesn't work, there's another blog & the owner may also know the answer:

This 2nd guy also has a vintage citizen watch group within Facebook as well.

Good luck with getting the answer ;)
