Why cant I find plain steel leaf hands?& To redial or not?

#1 Post by nickmicz22 » Thu Mar 10, 2016 6:45 pm

Seems simple enough I should need one 14-15mm x 0.75mm leaf style in polished natural steel but I can't find anything on ofrei or esslinger. None of the NOS parts that have washed up on ebay match the size I need. I can order a set of blued hands in the exact sizes + one extra minute hand and try to polish it to what i need, then worst case i could swap the whole set to blue- but Id like to keep the plain steel look if i can.

I might be blindly missing them somewhere on the websites too, and Ive been known to do that, but give up.

Also I'm leaning toward sending the dial out to be re done, but i could be talked out of it. I'd appreciate some opinions-

In my opinion to be happy with it I would want to find a replacement dial or have that one refinished.

+1. Omega purists tend to frown on redials, but IMO, it's hard to enjoy a watch with a ratty dial.

As for the hands, if you can get the correct ones in blue, send them along with the dial to International and they'll rhodium plate them. That's probably what the originals were too, not plain steel.
