Glass missing in Omega Quartz 1350

#1 Post by mcquicker » Tue Jan 08, 2019 6:35 am

A few years ago the glass case/crystal on my watch came off and I didn't realize it until it was too late. I've been trying to find a replacement and have no idea how to go about it without sending the watch overseas for repairs. I really like this watch and would love to have it repaired.

It is an Omega de Ville Quartz 1350 stamped in the back. I am including 2 pictures. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Any watchmaker should be able to source and install a crystal for you. No need to send overseas.

Well, I took the watch to THE watch repair shop where I live, San Juan PR, and 10 days later got a call that Omega had discontinued parts for this particular model, and they could not repair/replace the glass. In short, I have a working Omega watch that I like very much but can't wear it because it has not glass.

Any suggestions/advice will certainly be welcome.

Many thanks in advance,

You can try measuring (ideally with a digital caliper) and checking the GS cystal catalog online

https://gssupplies.com/crystal-catalogs/

If that recess for the crystal is flat (as opposed to curved) all the way around it will be a CX Rectangular crystal.
There are a few rectangular crystals that have the rounded corners in the catalog

Somebody could also make you a custom crystal.. you would ship the bezel off to someone and have them cut/form a crystal to fit
