4125 Seamaster bumper automatic?

#1 Post by GWG » Tue Oct 23, 2018 6:48 pm

My father recently gave this to me - he purchased in Germany in 1955 when stationed there with the U.S. Army. Based on a bit of online research, I believe it's a 4125 Seamaster bumper automatic calendar. And yet...the lettering looks a little off to me, and there is no lettering "SWISS MADE" under the calendar which I see on most references. Wondering if any experts can verify if this legitimate, and if so, will replacing the acrylic crystal with something new help or hurt the value of the watch. Thanks -- new to the forum and any input is appreciated!

I’m not sure where the “4125” came from, but that is not the case reference for this model.

Here is information from Omega’s Vintage Watch Database:

Your suspicions on the dial are well founded. It is most certainly a redial, probably done in the last 20 years.

With respect to the crystal, the original should have a small Omega symbol in the center. If your watch doesn’t have one, it is probably a replacement. Your watchmaker should be able to order a new Omega signed crystal to fit this case.

Hope this helps,

Thanks much for your insight! I don't believe Dad ever had this serviced, but I will ask him. This does help me get closer to the truth!
