Maybe I'm seeing things, but it looks to me like the pink gold part of the bezel has been removed, is that right?

If that's correct, it can be replaced, although it won't be cheap. But for a nice watch like that with family history, I would think it may be worth the expense. Wuischpard and Son is one outfit that could do it.

I just looked at the original picture on this thread
Now I know what you are talking about
My watch never had that ring around it
And because it was my father's watch and I do not intent to sell it
I would like to keep it just like he had it
I still would like to know the value of it
