All

I will try to reply this weekend. But I think that the short answer is that not that many Illinois cases shared dials. But I agree that Illinois apparently had more movement variations and jewel configurations than Hamilton.

What is more astounding to me is how many Illinois men's
wristwatch models were released by Illinois in 1928. Actually this would have been under the control of Hamilton then but they all had to be on the drawing board well before the announced merger. I am currently working on an article for the NAWCC Bulletin that touches on horological firsts that occurred in 1928 in America. If you have any known events or releases to share please let me know.

Thanks
FJF

Welcome to the forum!

Yes, this appears to be a Beau Monde/Geste. Is only the bezel yellow? Do you have more pictures (movement and inside and outside of the back of the case, and also the back of the bezel)?

Thanks for the additional photos! But what color is the back of the case -- silvery color or golden? (It looks silvery in the image on my computer screen, but sometimes it's hard to tell exact colors from photos and/or monitors.)

Since the watch has a 17-jewel movement, it would be a "Beau Monde." (This model is called a Beau Monde if it has a 17-jewel or 21-jewel movement and a Beau Geste if it has a 15-jewel movement.)

So the back is white?

Is this watch one that you're selling, or is it instead one that you're thinking about buying? (Just curious.)

Hi Gowater

Bettie asked all the appropriate questions. Thanks for your replies.

This model never came in this color/case configuration . Illinois never offered a model with a yellow bezel and a white center and white case back. Someone apparently put the bezel from a YGF model on to this WGF case.

Hope that helps,

Thanks,
FJF
