Does International Dial have original Illinois dial dies?

#1 Post by owch » Wed Mar 07, 2018 4:26 pm

I know that ID has the original Hamilton dial printing dies. Does International Dial have the original Illinois dial dies, too?
My Ritz came equipped with the ugliest Arabic numeral redial ever and I'd like it to have an Egyptian style dial.

Thanks, Tom.

I wasn't sure if that meant that they had original dies for the watches or just dies that are "in the style of" certain models.
Hopefully, it's the former.
I haven't worn the Ritz because it really is just too ugly---and I'm no perfectionist.

I doubt that any of their Gruen dies were originally Gruen property, yet they do some pretty convincing and accurate redials on my Gruens. But given the Hamilton-Illinois connection, maybe they do have the actual dies.
Real men wear small watches.

They actually do have quite a selection of Illinois dials.
Give them a buzz and tell them what you want and they are usually
very good if a redial is the way you want to go.

They will sometimes "scratch" a 4 digit code on the back... They won't
do this if you ask. I always found that annoying.

Good luck.

Thank you very much.
All good info to know.

FWIW, it's not an original dial that looks bad---it's a terrible redial that looks ridiculous.
I've actually sent any dials to be redone but this one must be redone.
