ITS BACK.

#1 Post by GJH » Mon Mar 05, 2018 3:15 pm

Ok folks,

The only reason I am giving this its own thread is because the seller NOW knows for sure that this dial is FAKE
and is still pushing this off to some unsuspecting person... No where does the listing say the dial is NOT authentic.

This dial is FAKE... PERIOD.

It never existed, it is a modern, made up design made to fool someone.
I have personally examined one of these dials and they are a cheap Chinese or Hong Kong
knockoff.
There was never a red 12 Skyway dial with this sub and pattern.

Would have been very cool if it did.

PLEASE be warned as someone on this forum was involved in the last sale of it.

The seller has relisted it here:

Greg, is correct. This and other frauds are covered in my new books as “Fraud Alerts” .

I know several long-time , experienced Illinois collectors that have been fooled by scams such as this one. This is not even an enamel dial, it is a metal dial painted this way in China. I actually tracked down the guy who was having these fabricated in China....that is until their facility burned down!

I had nothing to do with the fire.

Thanks,
FJF

For the record... While I detest the whole idea of this watch, The deception is
the disturbing part. When I first got to examine one of these in person, the seller (of
a VERY high end store in NY) fought me tooth and nail over it's authenticity.
I told him I would give him $10,000 for it, if he would open it and it was real.
His watchman opened it up and the back of the dial was as shiny, new and crappy looking as something
you would find in Chinatown. The welds on the dial feet were sloppy and the whole thing was a mess.
Anyway, if this seller put it up as a redial and folks were aware that this was a fake, so be it.
I am sure the seller got wind that folks are on to him/her and if it saves someone buying a forgery,
good.

My friend and I (I asesored to my friend) are gratefully to you for you advise. Seller said that it was wrong because the dial wasn't a fake. If you see one of the pictures, the movement is without dial. Sellers sometimes show the watch and movement, always with dial, no without.

Efectively, now is gone.

Best regards.

Anytime Pedro.

This is what we are here for. EVERY one of us was a new collector and we have ALL made mistakes along the way.
No one likes to see anyone get burned.
I made it a promise to the forum that every time I saw someone blatantly not telling
something important about a watch, I would call them out.

I got burned early on and I kind of enjoy knowing that someone else was saved
from that fate.
This forum has the king of Illinois, Fred Friedberg, and many incredible collectors all in
one place...when in doubt just ask.
