Dial Hall of Shame

#1 Post by GJH » Sun Apr 23, 2017 7:39 am

There are some Great and "Not so Great" ones out there...

It always amazes to see the classics.

Please post your favorites here for all to enjoy (or cringe)

Any Brand will do.

Some of mine...

This is a classic of the legendary "Palm Dial" and they pop up from time to time as "Originals"
(you can see the pixels on the dial)

I posted this one on another forum this morning, asking the question "what's wrong with this dial"?

What I think you are missing is that this is actually a very rare example that Bulova secretly
produced to change watchmaking forever. When the mainspring companies found out about
this game-changing feature of an indestructible mainspring, they must have gone crazy and
forced the company to change the design to protect their interests.
I bet this will do very well on the swamp! :D :D :D

Some people get so picky as to the spelling on Brand names...
I feel as long as it is close, I will buy the watch.

It may be more than a bad dial!

My favorite thing about the palm dials is how the the graphic, wherever it really came from, is obviously intended for a sub-6:00 dial, yet people put it on sub-9:00 dials anyway.

I think the owner of the REAL Palm has even told the guy selling them that these are fake and
his claims of "real" are bogus.
Fred knows the guy and he also can't believe that this guy is trying to pass them off as the real deal.
Unreal.

Jim...
Please explain the Hamilton to us Illinois guys...
I take it that the first one is in the totally wrong position?

and Eagle...
I have always told my dial guys to just use a pen if they don't get the dial perfect. :D
(A ruler may help!)
