Magpie sent me this beauty and I just HAD to share it...

As the kids these days say... You can't UNSEE this!

This a rare Diamond special edition from the Illinois Factory on Mars.
They must have also made Longines dials at the factory and put "Illinois"
under their logo for this special edition.

For the life of me, I simply cannot figure out what is wrong with this dial. I don't know why, but i just have a nagging feeling it might not be for this particular case :)

Still, at least they ONLY want $1075 on the swamp!!!!!!

That is the very rare "Double Vision" dial.
What you do is squint between the bezel and the dial and the 2
sets of numbers make 1 and you can tell the time.

For ONLY $1075???

Speaking of Dials...

In all seriousness, beware of this one.

These were made some years back and being peddled off as some lost mystery
dial for the skyway. These are pure CRAP.
I have seen one in person and they were made in China or Hong Kong.

Do NOT be fooled, there is one on the swamp right now.

Hi to all.

Justly, a friend bought this watch but I don´t saw this msg until now. I have spoken with he and has sent a message to the seller in order to cancel the buy. Any recomendation if the seller don't accept? How can he prove the dial is a CRAP? It isn´t a watchmaker.

Thanks in advance.

Perhaps a msg to ebay stating you believe it is fraudulent?

SO glad this worked out... this was my hope from the beginning.
This is the reason this forum exists... you have the world's foremost Illinois expert
(Fred Friedberg) and the most knowledgable collectors on the planet, ALL in one place.

You can always shoot Fred (FJF) a PM and ask him just about anything Illinois and he will respond.
OR pose the question out in the open here.
As new collectors, we have all been burned and many of us got burned before this forum
existed. My fear has always been a person like your friend coming onto the forum
with a watch like that and getting a hard dose of reality.

The swamp is called the swamp for a reason.... there are some alligators out there
waiting for an easy meal.

You are right, and it's dificult to know sometimes if you are buying a good watch or a reply.

Best regards.

Somebody really "loved" this watch...proves the notion that not everybody should wield a sharpie...

I hope that all of the marking was done to the crystal and not the dial
