New porcelain dial Illinois!

#1 Post by semroc » Tue Dec 05, 2017 6:52 pm

You all have probably seen this one in the bargain buys section. I've been staring at it for months. I received it today. Its been keeping great time for four hours. The serial number dates it to 1915, which makes it the oldest watch I own. Here is a pic. Along with three pics I found on the net. One with an 11jewel movement. Anyone else have a porcelain dial wristwatch? Sure would be neat to see pics.

SUPER Thread and a FANTASTIC BARGAIN!

What a beauty!

Fred has lost his mind with his bargain prices, and I check his site every day looking for the stuff he puts
out there these days. Some of these watches in the bargain area are literally STEALS
and can be fixed up and made into GEMS with a little work and know-how.
Fred literally has so many watches, that he must not be able to get them all fixed up,
so his lack of time is our bargain time.

I love porcelain/enamel dials and they are out there and lots of fun to wear.

Here are a few to show.

Wow, beautiful watches. Those crowns are so cool. Do any of these watches have names? Thanks for the pics.

The 8 sided are called Admiral Evans
The round one is an off center crown
and the cushion one is an Admiral Benson in Sterling.

I found a few more to check out.

Beautiful all of them.

I've got a Chevalier case with a nice black bezel but no dial if anyone ever runs across one :D

I would bet that Fred has one... if anyone has it, Fred does.
I may have one and will look when I see My watchmaker.
I have tons of different dials.

The Porcelain/Enamel ones are tough to find though.

Will check what I may have and look out there for you.
They turn up... I have a list of stuff that I look out for.

ps... Fred just put up a SUPER Chevalier on his site, and a CRAZY Depollier. You NEVER see them for sale.

Such nice watches. That blue Chevalier is a work of art. Thanks for the pics.
