Emergence of the Chronos via reissue

#1 Post by Movintage » Sun Mar 26, 2017 8:43 am

It looks like a few of the manufacturers have dug into their vaults to release a few vintage chronos. That is, new vintage models via reissue.

Anyone that's a chrono fan surely knows Tag's, 1960s Autavia. Last year Tag said it would do it and they've made good on their word. You can read about it in these 2 articles

For Hammy fans, there's the desirable & collectible Chrono-Magic and Chrono-B. To satisfy the desire, Hamilton reissued the Intra-Magic 68

Let's not forget Omega. They've released a 1957 trio, Speedmaster, Seamaster and Railmaster. Yeah, the Speedmaster is the only chrono, but the Sea and Rail are IMHO, cool reissues

Also kind of bugged by the gloppy "H" logo: why can't a $2000+ contemporary watch match the print fidelity of an older dial? The thick "H" looks like what our redials look like when pad printed from old dies. :(

ETA: Upon closer, look, it is not the fidelity of the print but the fact that they have redesigned the "H" to be thicker and stubbier. (Probably because they couldn't print with the delicacy of the old one. :P)
