Trying to get one more thin thin elgin auto out of the to do pile. Anyone who has gone down this road knows how hard it is to get parts as most of them fail in the same few spots.
When they work they are pretty awesome.

Progress.
I was able to cobble together to assemble one more working 760.
I'm a happy guy. Almost ready for the wrist test.
Sometimes you have to talk nicely to them. Sometimes you have to berate them into submission.

Love the Lord Elgin! :!:

I'm going old-school right now: an 18-size Illinois Grade 69, from 1913.

This one needed neither coaxing nor berating, but I surely know the feeling!

Just got done with this 18k LeCoultre. It needed a new mainspring, stem and crown. It has nice navy blue and yellow enamel accents. Original box, band and buckle.

I have nothing on my bench. In fact I took the room apart.
I have gotten pretty serious into watchmaking and was outgrowing the space I originally set up then expanded.
I am in the process of building a whole new setup.
I thought about buying a vintage watchmakers desk but declined to just build some nice wood counters instead so I have room to display my treasures too. I'll post some pics as it goes.

I'm kinda in a similar situation as you Stryfox. Just a different reason. I've totally dismantled my watch repair area to make room for something that now takes up the entire room. A Slot car set. Yep, my wife & daughter bought me a digital, wireless 1.32 scale slot car set for my birthday and now I've been taken back to my teens and LOVIN IT!!! :D

sorry it's not watch related but I wanted to share with my VWF friends. Here's a quick pic

Oh man that is awesome...... At one point before I got in vintage watches I seriously considered to turn my work area into a model train and slot car room.

anyway, here is something on my bench but way out of my level for repair \ restore. It will be posted under my ebay id.
