NAWCC National in York

#1 Post by retroworx » Thu Jun 21, 2018 3:21 pm

I am thinking about going — it would be my first show!

Do I really need to bring wads of cash, or have folks at the conventions finally caught on to PayPal?

While attending a regional meet doesn't make me an expert on the national meet, I was surprised that sellers there were generally NOT using PayPal. I found only one seller using PayPal and other forms of payment (e.g. Square that accepts credit cards). Very odd.

Patrick, I know that when I asked this same question here years ago the consensus was that cash was mandatory, so sounds like your experience is not atypical, but I sure was hoping that folks had caught up with the technology — I wanted the option to use my credit card, LOL.

Yeah. They have always in the past had an ATM nearby - but cash is king.

Cash and only cash in my experience. I'm planning on going to the National this year unless something happens between now and then to keep me away. I've been to Regionals since 1992 but have never attended a National so I'm looking forward to it! I did finally see the NAWCC museum last year when I was in the area and will probably go through it again when I'm up there by myself with no wife and kid hurrying me along...;)

Sellers are less willing to haggle as well, if the payment is going to be credit card even if they take it.

I'm going to the National.

And yes, bring CA$H!

Hardly anybody wants to deal with CC or PayPal at these events.

I am planning to go for the mart on Saturday. Will bring cash only.
