Anybody know what this is? Patriotic Wristlet?

#1 Post by Literustyfan » Sat Nov 18, 2017 7:13 am

Anybody have a clue as to what this is?

It LOOKS like a WWI trench watch crystal guard of sorts, but it looks like it would not protect the crystal very well.

I might have seen something like this is an issue of the "Jeweler's Circular" from the WWI era many years ago, circa 1917.

Perhaps it is maybe a "sweetheart picture wristlet" for a lady who's man/son is off at the front?

You can clearly see the Eagle and Crest on the front cover, patriotic American design.

It does have lugs so it was worn on the wrist. Sterling silver composition with a "Pat.Pend" stamp on the inside.

It measures 45mm lug to lug, 36mm going across with a 15mm lug diameter.

I picked this piece up awhile ago because it looked neat, trying to figure out what it is now.

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

Just guessing, but possibly made to hold a pocket watch to the wrist?
