Re: WRUW 9/9 through 9/15/2018?

For a meeting of the American Guild of Organists and a recital tonight, I wore a Hamilton "Everest II" with original band: http://mrtoad.net/Media/201809WRUW/Hamilton_Everest-II.jpg This was my first working Hamilton Electric. Tonight's organ was a fresh rebuild by Bradley Rule & Co. of a 1963 Casav...

WRUW 9/9 through 9/15/2018?

I'd decided to wear Illinois today, but when the watch I'd planned on wouldn't start, I noticed a couple of "Cavalier" models nearby and thought, "I haven't worn one of those lately!" So here is an Illinois "Cavalier" in white:

Re: Hamilton 992 play in crown

It's probably a worn sleeve or one that has lost some of its springiness, inside the pendant. It might also be a worn stem, but that's less likely, as stems are hard steel.

Re: Looks like this watch belong here

And in addition to a really great case, you have a fine example of a 207 movement. For more about this, see the next post, about a "Finalist Deco", which uses the same movement (viewtopic.php?f=16&t=12325).

Re: Is it possible that this is a man's watch?

Yes, indeed, this is a man's watch: it's the "Finalist Deco". It was generally advertised as a man's watch, though there is a single example of a solid-gold "Finalist Deco" that was custom ordered from the factory and inscribed as a father's gift to his daughter. Your watch appears to have a "sparkl...

Re: WRUW 9/2 through 9/8/2018?

We took a somewhat wandering path this morning to the meeting of a music club, so I picked a Hamilton "Cross Country"

Bill Clinton's Watch

It's not often that you get a straight look at someone's watch in the news. But Bill Clinton, talking to Jesse Jackson at Aretha Franklin's funeral, held his up for us to see: http://mrtoad.net/Media/201808WRUW/BillClintonWatch.jpg My guess is that it's a Shinola Runwell ( https://www.shinola.com/me...

Hamilton Mystery—Revisited

Back in 2014 I posted a mystery Hamilton: a rectangular watch in a 14K Jonell case similar to that used on the "Nevin II" http://mrtoad.net/Media/201405WRUW/Nevin.jpg (The thread is at http://vintagewatchforums.com/viewtopic.php?f=41&t=5047 .) At the time I originally posted the watch, I speculated ...
