Re: 1931 Perry - WGF/YGF?

The case is Wadsworth. Definitely two-tone. Bezel, back and crown WGF, middle section YGF. The matching serial numbers are visible in the listing photos: https://www.ebay.com/itm/6205-vintage-and-fabulous-WGF-Hamilton-Perry-in-super-condition-all-original-/122981908305?_trksid=p2047675.l2557&ssPageN...

Re: 1931 Perry - WGF/YGF?

So I pulled the case back off and the last four digits stamped on the case back match those on the center section. I did not pull the bezel off as that does not seen necessary to prove the point, the WGF back and YGF center section matching numbers. Creates a two-tone case which I think is interesti...

Re: 1931 Perry - WGF/YGF?

I already took a little sunshine polishing cloth to the center part, it is definitely yellow gold. I'll take the case apart and look at the serial numbers. I've had my eye on this model for a long time as it is one of the most interesting models with art deco (I would say streamline moderne) design ...

1931 Perry - WGF/YGF?

I've just received the 1931 WGF Perry that was on eBay last week. It's in pretty nice condition overall although not exactly as described ("no brass showing") but I was expecting that. I think it will clean up nicely if I decide to keep it. What I did not notice in the photos (but can see there now)...

amplitude question

I’d like to better understand specific causes of low amplitude, beyond general comments I have read that poor amplitude can be indicative of “problems” or “the health of the movement.” Specifically, I understand that the following can cause low amplitude: 1. Anything that impedes the balance swingin...

New standard for eBay shipping?

From outside in, left to right in the photo: manila envelope intended to ship flat things; partial Priority Mail box reconfigured to approximate a cube; half of the upper part of an egg carton; half an egg carton, complete; plastic grocery bag; bubble wrap; blue tissue; tape throughout. I would have...

Re: What are the longest 982/980 watches?

to the nearest half mm, measured with a ruler not a caliper: Dickens 44 Linwood 43.5 Sutton 43 Carlisle 43 Winthrop 42.5 Clark 42.5 Foster 42 Ardmore 40.5 Seneca 36 Interesting that the longest are all GF although I suspect Bentley might be as long as Dickens as the dials have similar dimensions and...

Re: Man, maybe I should get into the franken business

Looks like a typo, has been reduced to $315.00.

So, is this a franken?

987 winding pinion

I have a few projects going with 987x movements, plus a couple of parts 987s I got from Dan for practice. I've noticed that without exception each of these shows excessive wear to the winding pinion: roughly the middle third of each tooth appears to be worn down relative to the rest of the tooth, ov...
